'What's Stopping Me?' was a photography project for young refugees and aylum seekers in Brighton and Hove in August 2009. I received money for the project from MediaBox's Open Minds scheme. Brighton and Hove City Council's Arts & Creative Industries department provided us with digital cameras.
During the course we were taught how to use digital cameras, about lighting, flash and composition. We also looked at photos by famous photographers and we learnt how to upload photos onto Flickr and edit them.
We wanted to use photography to show our lives and our views on the importance of education for us. We also thought about the jobs we would like to do and took photos that would show this, and also made a self-portrait each.
I hope you like the photos. You can view our online gallery HERE.
