See It! Say It! Stop It! was commissioned in 2009 by Brighton and Hove City Council’s Healthy Schools department and Community Safety Partnership as an educational resource to encourage young people to challenge and report racially and religiously motivated bullying.
A group of over 20 young people drawn from BandBazi’s Youth Circus Theatre and Varndean School came together for the project which was devised in Saturday workshops and then filmed around February half-term 2010. Members of the Youth Circus Theatre collaborated with pupils form Varndean School to create the learning resource DVD See It! Say It! Stop It! which was completed in July 2010. The film combines personal testimony, aerial circus, animation, interviews and factual information about reporting racist incidents.
This film is made by young people about this real life issue and their personal experience of dealing with it. To be used alongside a learning resource, this DVD will empower the viewer to challenge incidents of religious and racial bullying, whether as a target or witness. They will be confident to report any incident and know that they will be listened to.
