Our Exciting New Project!
Resilient Arts is BandBazi Community's newest project about mental health and the arts – circus, theatre and creative writing to enhance emotional resilience. The project will run until March 2018 and is funded by Brighton and Hove City Council. Four community groups will work through the Five Ways to Wellbeing, which have been developed by the New Economics Foundation (NEF). The Five Ways to Wellbeing are a set of actions which promote people’s wellbeing. They are: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. These activities are simple things individuals can do in their everyday lives.
Artistic Director, Philippa Vafadari, has recently retrained as a psychotherapist, gaining an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton. She is using this expertise combined with her 25 years experience of working in the arts to continue to develop BandBazi’s #ResilientArts project exploring how the arts can support emotional wellbeing. Your can find her therapy work on www.psychotherapybrighton.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
BandBazi Community will programme a series of community performances, workshops and training events that will allow members of the public to be involved in issues around mental health and wellbeing and how they affect residents of Brighton and Hove. Performances will be by community groups supported by BandBazi.
